2004 Gibson Granada Prototype Copper Flashing

This is a one of a kind prototype of a Granada that was made with copper flashing. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

This is a Prototype from 2004 where an attempt was made to see how copper flashing would effect a Granada design. This likely was done in response to the success and popularity of the JD Crowe Blackjack which featured copper as well.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a curly maple neck and resonator. The fretboard is rosewood with a Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern. The hardware is copper flashed with Granada style engraving and a Price style tailpiece. I am not sure if the tailpiece is original or not but considering this is a Prototype it definitely could be original. The rest of the hardware I am sure of it’s originality. The case has a Gibson style combo lock which make me wonder if that case was in the Gibson factory and was used for this prototype.

This is a truly one of a kind banjo that when it sells you will not be able to find another.

Condition

This is in fantastic shape and has also been cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse. The banjo has been disassembled and all of the hardware cleaned which looks great. The wood has been waxed to a shine and the fretboard has been cleaned and oiled. The frets are definitely in great shape with limited wear and there are spikes at the 7th, 9th and 10th frets. The case is also clean.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse. This has a new Huber frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge is correctly intonated. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the banjo plays great!!! This is a rare and very special one of a kind banjo that has been set up to perform at it’s peak.
