2004 Gibson RB4 5 string Banjo JD CROWE TONE RING

This is an absolutely gorgeous 2004 Gibson RB4 that came originally with a JD Crowe Tone Ring. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This is a gorgeous RB4 that was made in 2004 by Gibson. This is all original and has a rare Gibson JD Crowe Tone Ring. This is definitely a special banjo because you don’t see these often with the Crowe Ring.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell. The neck and resonator are walnut and this has nickel hardware. There is w/b/w binding on each side of the neck and resonator. This has a Gibson USA one piece flange and as stated earlier an original Gibson JD Crowe Tone Ring. The armrest is a one piece armrest and this has a Gibson engraved Presto Tailpiece. Both are original. The fretboard is rosewood with a Flying Eagle inlay pattern and there is also inlay on the headstock including the Gibson logo. This is all original and has a nice hardshell case that resembles a Gibson case in many ways.

This is a stellar example of a Gibson RB4 that is all original with a rare original JD Crowe Ring. This definitely sounds incredible and also looks great and is a great player too.

Condition

We professionally clean every Banjo that comes through our shop. This has been completely disassembled and the metal has been buffed and the wood waxed. This really glows and basically looks new. There was a finish issue on Gibson Banjos made around this time that would leave some finish cracking in the resonator. This banjo has that issue. There is a picture of this finish issue included. Other than this finish cracking the finish looks incredible. The neck and fretboard are in great shape and even the frets are in great shape. There are spikes at the 7th-10th frets. The case is also clean. This is definitely a very attractive banjo that is in really good condition.

Set Up

We also professionally set up every Banjo that comes through our shop. This has a new Remo frosted head which has been set to 90 on a drum dial. The bridge is a Snuffy Smith bridge and this has correct intonation. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set nicely. This is also fully adjustable. This is a great banjo that looks great, plays great and sounds incredible. The fact this has the Crowe Ring is a very nice touch.
