2005 Gibson RB12 5 string Banjo

This is an all original Gibson RB12 from 2005 with original case. This has been fully inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This is a walnut top tension with nickel hardware. The shell is 3 ply hard rock maple. The banjo has a walnut neck with a rosewood fretboard. The fretboard has some nice inlay that is simple and attractive. The headstock is also inlaid and there is w/b/w binding on each side of the neck and resonator. This has all original hardware and original tuners with amber buttons. Top Tension Gibson banjos are the loudest Gibson Banjos with a very unique tone. These sound exceptional and are also very rare.

Condition

The banjo is absolutely in fantastic condition. This was absolutely well taken care of. The hardware is clean with little sign of wear. The resonator and neck finish are also clean. A common problem for RB12 banjos is the resonator will often get warped, this is not warped. The resonator is absolutely flat with no warping. The neck is straight and the fretboard is clean, The frets are perfect with no visible wear at all. This is not only a very special and very rare banjo it is also very clean. The original case is also super clean.

Set Up

This has been set up here at the shop. This has nice string height and this plays great with great volume. The banjo has correct intonation. The head is a new Huber frosted head and this has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings. This has a Snuffy Smith bridge with an ebony cap. The head is set to 90 on a drum dial all the way around the head. This looks great, sounds great and plays great and these are not easy to find.
