This is a gorgeous and rare RB12 top tension. This is all original and sounds incredible with an original case. This has been fully inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

This is a walnut banjo with nickel hardware. The neck is also walnut with a rosewood fretboard. The fretboard has gorgeous abalone inlay going up the board. There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator. The headstock has an ebony face with abalone inlay as well. The tuners are beautiful with amber buttons. This is made with a top tension hardware design that really makes this loud. Top tension banjos are some of the best sounding banjos that have ever been made. This is all original and includes an original hardshell case.

Condition

This is truly beautiful. The wood and finish are clean and just gorgeous. The hardware is glowing. The fretboard is clean and the frets are also perfect. This appears to almost have never been played. Something that is very significant is the resonator hasn’t warped at all. It is not uncommon for the resonator on top tensions to become warped over time. This one has not done that. There are spikes at the 7th and 9th frets. The original hardshell case is also clean.

Set Up

This has been set up here at the shop. The banjo has comfortable action that also produces a lot of tone and volume. The banjo has proper intonation. The head has been set to 90 on a drum dial all the way around the head. This has a new Huber frosted head and new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings. The bridge is a Gary Sosebee bridge with an ebony cap. This plays great and sounds phenomenal!!
