2005 Stelling Crusader 5 string Banjo

Description

Geoff Stelling is known to have made some of the best banjos that exist and he is getting older and it seems that less banjos are being made. Geoff also was inducted into the American Banjo Museum’s Hall of Fame in 2020 which has added more interest to his banjos. I am searching high and low for them and paying high prices just to have them available since they have gotten so hard to find.

This has a Tony Pass Lost Timbre 600TS Shell with a mahogany neck and resonator. All of the hardware is nickel and original including a Stelling one piece flange, Stelling tension hoop, Stelling armrest and original no hole tone ring. The fretboard is ebony which produces extra pop and looks great!! The neck and resonator each have w/b/w binding. This has a very nice TKL hardshell case as well.

Condition

This is in great shape and has been professionally cleaned at our shop. The wood and finish show basically no use at all and have been waxed to a nice shine. The banjo was taken apart and I buffed all of the metal and that looks new. The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled and the frets show almost no wear at all. The little wear that is there is pretty much only on the second fret and is almost nothing. There are spikes at the 7th-10th frets. The case is in great shape as well.

Set Up

This has also been set up at the Banjo Warehouse. This has a new Stelling frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge is a Snuffy Smith which is intonated. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action feels great. This is a great player with lots of volume.

These Stelling Banjos are legitimately disappearing into collections and it seems fewer are being made as well.
