2018 Huber Sammy Shelor 5 string Banjo

The Sammy Shelor model is a recreation of Sammy’s vintage 1930’s flathead. The neck and resonator are made from mahogany and the antiqued binding lends a vintage look to the banjo. The simple inlay pattern on the headstock and fingerboard are identical to Sammy’s old banjo. The pot is built using our Huber HR-30 tone ring and Huber Engineered Rim.

Sam had asked that this model be made with a custom, wider neck and a radiused fingerboard. This is the banjo that you see him play on stage with Lonesome River Band.

This is a mahogany banjo with nickel hardware.  The neck is also mahogany with a rosewood fretboard.  The fretboard is inlaid with a Seagull inlay pattern.  The armrest is a one piece armrest and this has a Presto Tailpiece.  There is white binding on each side of the resonator.  The banjo is all original and has an HR30 tone ring.  The case is a Superior case that is also new.

Condition

The banjo is a 2018 so it is basically  mint.  The finish shines.  The hardware is clean and is glowing.  The fretboard is clean and the frets are fat and round.  There are spikes at the 7th and 9th frets.  The banjo is absolutely gorgeous and not only does it sound and play great it looks incredible.  The case is new and in mint condition.

Set Up

This has a new Huber frosted head. The bridge is a Huber bridge with an ebony cap.  The banjo is strung with new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.  This has been set up here at the Banjo Warehouse and really plays great.  The banjo has proper intonation.  The head is set to 90 on a drum dial all the way around the head.  This is really an exceptional banjo that will make anybody happy!!
