This is a top quality Aria Pro 2 Banjo with a hard rock maple shell and one piece flange. This was made in Japan. The banjo has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

The 1970’s in Japan was a time that musical instruments were being made in a superior way to American instruments of the same period. This is a fantastic example of that and has all of the parts that someone would expect out of a professional quality instrument. I would recommend this banjo over a 1970’s Gibson any day of the week.

This starts with a hard rock maple shell and this has a maple neck and resonator. You can see a bit of birdseye in the resonator. The hardware is nickel. This has a rosewood fretboard with a Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern. This also has an extra inlay at the first fret which is how Earl Scruggs banjo was. The armrest is an original armrest and is made with the same design as 1970’s Gibson banjo armrests. The only non original parts are a Presto tailpiece and Schaller D Tuners and both are upgrades. The Presto is a really nice touch because it is a rare older design and is an improvement from the original tailpiece.

Most importantly this has a one piece flange and 20 hole nickel plated tone ring. A 1970’s Gibson banjo would have a 2 piece flange and a one piece flange is regarded as a superior design. The banjo also has Gibson RB800 style binding on each side of the neck and resonator along with white binding. This is absolutely gorgeous and has top quality parts. This banjo is a phenomenal player and someone is going to be thrilled with this.

Condition

We professionally cleaned this banjo here at the Banjo Warehouse. The banjo was taken apart and we buffed all of the metal with a high powered buffer. The wood has been waxed and this banjo basically looks new. There already wasn’t much wear at all so the resonator is clean as is all of the hardware. The neck and fretboard are both super clean. There is a bit of wear on the first few frets but the rest are clean. The banjo has no functional issues whatsoever and no damage or repairs. This has a 5th string capo installed and no spikes. This is in great shape and also has a clean case.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia. The banjo has a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial. This has a Grover bridge and the banjo is set with correct intonation. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set nicely. This also is adjustable and has a truss rod and 2 coordinator rods.
