1930 Gibson TB4 Archtop Tenor Banjo
This is a walnut banjo with the original archtop tone ring in fact all of the parts are original. The neck is also a gorgeous walnut with a rosewood fretboard with Hearts and Flowers inlaid up the board. The fretboard is in fabulous condition with frets that are in exceptional condition and are also original frets. This isn’t mint, but for a near 100 year old banjo this is in exceptional condition. There are a handful of small dings on the back of the resonator but it is still a clean finish. The original Chrome hardware is in great condition, a lot of it is mirror clean!!!! This is a stunning banjo that is in all original unmolested condition.
Original Pre War flathead banjos have gotten so expensive that conversion banjos are becoming very normal. This would be a fabulous banjo to do a conversion with but a tenor player can also get a lot of value out of this. Style 4 Gibson banjos are rare and this is a clean all original version with zero problems.
The dates match up and this also has the original Gibson label on the inside of the resonator. These old tenors are getting hard to find since they all are getting changed to conversion banjos. If you are looking for a clean all original Gibson TB4 Archtop Tenor Banjo this would be the banjo for you!!!
