Description

I want to mention first this banjo has no serial number. I was told this was one of the first 5 Flint Hill Specials and everything about this screams Gibson. Gibson USA One Piece Flange, Gibson USA Tone Ring, Earl Scruggs Signed label and even the Mastertone Block is correct along with the truss rod cover. I have no doubt this is an authentic Gibson but this does not have a serial number and I want to mention that first.

The Flint Hill Special is an absolutely gorgeous work of art that is in every way a top quality banjo. This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a curly maple neck and resonator. The fretboard is ebony with a Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern. Each side of the neck and resonator has w/b/w binding. The hardware is gold and all original and is fully engraved. Everything on the banjo is original including a Gibson USA One Piece Flange and a Gibson USA Tone Ring.

There is abalone binding around the face of the headstock and the truss rod cover is pearl and says Flint Hill Special. This is a very special instrument that is all original and in great shape. The case is an original Gibson USA Flint Hill Special Deluxe Case.

Condition

This banjo is in fantastic condition. The finish is very clean and has been waxed to a shine. The hardware is also in fantastic shape and the gold is glowing. There is some wear in the gold on the armrest but not much. The frets and fretboard are in great shape and look nearly untouched. This has spikes at frets 7 and 9. The banjo is in fantastic condition all the way around.

The case is in really good shape with a couple of light marks on the outside but it is in excellent shape inside and out.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta. The head is the original Remo frosted head and is set to 90. The bridge is set with correct intonation. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the banjo is a fantastic player. This is in great shape and is set up to play great and sound incredible.
