1970s Gibson RB800 5-string Banjo
This banjo is in very good condition except for a bit of wear on the armrest and resonator (see photos). It sounds surprisingly good for its age and era. It has a speed neck that feels incredible for the player (it’s easy to see why so many professionals have them on their banjos). The figure in the curly maple on the neck is also very good. The sunburst, curly maple resonator is still in excellent condition even with the bit of wear. There are also very fine cracks in the binding on the bottom of the resonator which gives the banjo an antique feel. The gold-plated hardware on this banjo is in excellent condition and it has the original gold-plated, engraved keys. The banjo has hearts and flowers inlay with a fiddle-headstock. There is very little fret wear and the wear you can see is only noticeable upon close examination. This banjo comes with a period-correct Gibson case that’s in excellent condition.
