This is a 5 string flathead banjo made with some Gibson and other parts, including a Rich era RB250 neck and a 1950’s RB100 resonator.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

This is a parts banjo that happens to have some pretty good Gibson parts.  I want to be upfront and say that this is no mastertone but for the price this is a great buy with some solid tone.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a 1950’s Gibson RB100 resonator and a 1992 Gibson RB250 neck.  The tension hoop and armrest are also off of the same 1992 RB250.  The flange is a one piece and the tone ring is a no hole ring.  The neck is mahogany with an ebony fretboard that has a leaves and bows inlay pattern.  This has some quality parts which alone are probably worth my asking price.  This also includes a deluxe, thick padded gig bag.

Condition

The banjo is also in good shape.  The back of the resonator has a lot of button scratching and the neck has a repair on each side under the headstock.  This is a parts banjo that does have some wear also.

However I cleaned the metal and that looks great.  The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled and the finish on the neck waxed.  The frets are in good shape and this has spikes at frets 7,9 and 10.  The banjo is in good shape and the gig bag is new.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse.  The head is a new Huber frosted head which is set to 90.  The bridge is a no name but quality bridge and this has new Huber Truetone .10’s.  This is set up well and the banjo does sound good.  Like I said, this is no mastertone but it is still a quality banjo, especially for the price.
