This is a gorgeous Gold Star GF85 that was made right when Saga was reissuing these. This has been inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This has a mahogany resonator and nickel hardware. The neck is also mahogany with a rosewood fretboard. This has a leaves and bows inlay pattern going up the fretboard which looks really classy. There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator. The armrest is a one piece armrest. This banjo has got a lot of bang and this is a superb option for the price. I do mean superb.

This has the bluegrass punch that someone wants out of a banjo, this banjo will be heard. I was told that Greg Rich was working at Saga when this was made and I will admit this banjo seems to be superior to a lot of banjos that have come through here. This also includes a hardshell case that says Gibson but is not a Gibson case. This is a phenomenal banjo that will please whoever buys this!

Condition

This is in really good shape. The finish and wood look incredible. There is a short and thin scratch on the resonator that absolutely could be buffed out. Other than this it almost looks untouched. The hardware also looks great and is very shiny. The neck and fretboard are clean and the frets also look almost untouched. There are no spikes or 5th string capo which explains why it is so clean. A serious player would have to have a way to capo the 5th string so this was clearly not owned by someone that did a lot of gigging. The case is also super clean. This is a really nice package that looks incredible.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse. This has a clean Remo frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial. The head I also believe is original. The bridge is a Snuffy Smith bridge. This has correct intonation as well. The action is set well so this plays great but also sounds incredible. This feels great to play but the strings are still set to produce tone and volume. This banjo is just incredible and someone is going to be thrilled with this one. Thanks!!!
