This is a copy of a Pre War Gibson Banjo known as the Banger and is all original with the original case.  These are HOT right now.  This has been fully inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

Over a year in the making, the Gold Tone OB-3 “Twanger” is based upon the famous Gibson “Banger,” a 1929 RB-3 no-hole fat rim flathead banjo. The Twanger was conceptualized by Robby Boone, Jake Stogdill, and Ben Clark to be an outright hot rod at a ridiculously reasonably price!  The no hole tone-ring, 3 ply pre-war style rim, and gorgeous mahogany neck are a unique combination which results in tone and power that is very rare to find in this price range, or any price range for that matter.  The rest of the construction is beautiful too.  Pre-war style appointments such as the double cut peg head, traditional leaves and bows inlay, concentric resonator rings, and that authentic red mahogany finish against the deep reflective nickel plating make this banjo an absolute show stopper!

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell.  The neck and resonator are mahogany with white binding on each side.  This has nickel hardware including a one piece flange and a no hole tone ring.  The fretboard is rosewood with a leaves and bows inlay pattern.  These are all the marks of a Pre War style 3 banjo and this has Gold Tone on the block that would otherwise say Mastertone.  This also includes the original Gold Tone Hardshell Case.

Condition

This banjo isn’t very old so there really wasn’t a lot of opportunity to put wear on it.  We still professionally cleaned this at the shop and now it basically looks new!!  There is a hint of fretwear on the first few frets and that is all of the wear on this banjo.  The frets down the neck look untouched.

We disassembled the banjo and buffed all of the metal to a nice shine.  The wood has been waxed which also brings out more shine.  The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled as well.  This banjo is in fantastic condition and the case is in great shape as well.

Set Up

We also professionally set this up at the Banjo Warehouse.  This has a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial.  The bridge is set with correct intonation.  We put new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings on this which are the best strings for the Pre War tone.  The action is set nicely and this is fully adjustable.

This is a great banjo that is definitely hot at the moment.  It is hard to get a new one of these sometimes because they only make batches of 36 and these are also Pre Sold online.
