This is a Huber Workhorse that is made with curly maple right here in the USA. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

Steve Huber is regarded as the King of the Pre War style Banjo. He has spent decades perfecting the design of the Pre War Gibson Banjo and can produce new banjos that sound like they are 100 years old. This is a fantastic example of a Huber Banjo known as the Workhorse. This will give you the Huber Tone but still at a great price!

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell. The neck and resonator are both curly maple. The neck has a gloss finish and the resonator has a satin finish. This has nickel hardware which is all original including a one piece flange and a Huber Vintage Tone Ring. This banjo has a whole lot of power. The fretboard is ebony with a leaves and bows inlay pattern and there is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator.

If you want to get a sound that is reminiscent of the Pre War Gibson Banjos but don’t want to spend a load of cash this is the banjo for you.

Condition

This banjo does have some real minor evidence of play wear but has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse and looks fantastic. There is some minor scuffing on the back of the resonator and a bit of wear on the underside of the neck. The finish looks good but on close inspection there is some light wear.

The hardware looks great and the banjo has been disassembled and all of the metal buffed to a shine. The fretboard and frets are in good shape with some wear on the first few frets. This fretwear does not effect anything and causes no problems plus it truly is only the first few frets. There are spikes at the 7th and 9th frets. The case is in great shape inside and out.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse as well. This has a new American Banjo Company frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge is set with correct intonation. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and are set to play fast with lots of tone. This banjo definitely plays and sounds fantastic!
