This is a Mitch Top Tension Banjo with a speed neck and an unplated tone ring.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

Mitch Meadors is making some high quality Banjos right here in the USA.  His .38 special tone ring and his Tone Ring Mate are parts that have become staples for many Banjo Players.  This is a Top Tension Banjo that was made by Mitch Meadors.

This has a maple block rim and a mahogany neck and resonator.  The hardware is nickel Top Tension hardware including a one piece nickel plated flange.  The Tone Ring is a brass unplated Mitch .38 Special Tone Ring and it is stamped.  That is a powerful ring designed by Mitch Meadors to duplicate the Pre War Banjo sound.  The fretboard is rosewood with a Bowtie Inlay pattern and the neck is a speed neck.  This banjo is in great shape and is a powerful banjo that also comes with an original Mitch Banjos Hardshell Case.

This is a great opportunity for someone to get a Top Tension Banjo at a great price.  Top Tension Banjos rarely come up for under $3000 and this is a quality American Made Banjo.

Condition

This banjo is definitely in fantastic condition.  The finish shows basically no wear with only surface button scratching on the resonator.  The neck and fretboard are also in great shape with fretwear only on the first few frets which is light at worst.  The hardware looks great as well with a nice shine and basically no wear.  There are spikes at the 7th-10th frets.  The original case is in good shape inside and out with the only wear being some of the letters for Mitch Banjos have worn off the top of the case.  This is definitely in good shape all the way around.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse.  This has a new Remo Frosted Head which is set to 90 on a drum dial.  The bridge is a Sosebee bridge and is set with correct intonation.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action feels great.  This banjo has a lot of power and is set up to maximize tone, volume and playability.
