Description

Gold Star The new GF-100W represents one of the finest examples of a prewar-inspired, five-string flathead resonator banjo; often considered the “Classic” bluegrass banjo. Legendary musicians the likes of J.D. Crowe, Sonny Osborne, and Rudy Lyle rank among the most notable pickers to establish the prewar “Wreath” patterned banjo from the 1930s as THE unmistakable flathead sound. By painstakingly studying every detail of original examples, Gold Star has achieved perfection in this exciting new 5-string added to the line. The one-piece, bound mahogany neck with a lightweight, single-way truss rod is comfortable to play and feels just like the original; while the 20-hole sand-cast tone ring, perfectly turned hard rock maple rim, and a bound mahogany resonator with dual concentric rings, combined; provide the perfect platform to create all the volume, drive and tone any player would need! So for that classic Bluegrass sound and an instrument that stepped right out of the 1930’s, without the high price tag.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell, a mahogany neck and resonator, a rosewood fretboard and nickel hardware. This is the classic design that will give you the true bluegrass bang. This is brand new and includes a New Superior Hardshell Case.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta. This has a new Remo Frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial. The banjo has correct intonation. The action is set nicely and is also adjustable. This is a fantastic design which is a copy of the Pre War sound that has been professionally set up to play and sound incredible.
