This is new Blem Mitch Joe Dean .38 Special Banjo. The Blem is there is some cloudiness in the resonator. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

Mitch Meadors has designed some incredible Banjos that are based in part on the Pre War Banjo Design. These sound fantastic and are made by Eric Sullivan at First Quality who was one of the people heavily involved in making the necks at least for the Gibson Banjos.

This particular banjo is new but it is also a BLEM. The BLEM is the finish on back of the resonator has clouded over. This definitely doesn’t effect the function and the fog in the finish really doesn’t look bad, but it’s there.

This has a nice Maple shell and the neck and resonator are each mahogany. The fretboard is rosewood and there is a Flying Eagle inlay pattern. Each side of the neck and resonator has white binding.

The hardware is nickel and all original which includes a one piece flange and a full size Mastertone style Tone Ring. The bridge is original and is one of Mitch Meadors .38 Special Tailpiece.

This banjo definitely sounds fantastic and plays wonderfully. This also includes an archtop hardshell case.

Condition

The banjo is new and in new condition other then the finish on the resonator which is cloudy. The case is in good shape. It appears it was originally a Deering Case but the Mitch Banjos logo is now on the top of the case.

Set Up

This has a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge is a Gary Sosebee and the strings are new. This banjo has nice string height (action) and is intonated properly. This banjo is a wonderful American Made Banjo that sounds great, looks great and is a joy to play!
