This is a very clean example of a Recording King RKR85 Elite Banjo.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse.

Description

The Recording King RKR85 Elite is absolutely a professional quality banjo at a very affordable price.  This banjo is very similar to the Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard featuring the same materials and general design.  This is a loud banjo with lots of pop and tone and I have had customers show up at the shop with $5000 to buy a Gibson and leave with one of these instead. The tone is so good for the money a lot of people just can’t tell the difference.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a curly maple neck and resonator.  The fretboard is ebony with a Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern.  The hardware is nickel and all original including a one piece flange and a 20 hole tone ring.  The neck and resonator each have white binding on each side.  This is all original and in great shape with a clean original case.

Condition

This banjo is in incredible condition and has been professionally cleaned at our shop.  The banjo has been disassembled and all of the hardware buffed with a grinder to look new.  The metal looks fantastic.  The finish does have a chip in the finish on the back of the headstock by the 3rd string tuner but that is extremely minor.  The rest of the finish is in fantastic shape and has been waxed to a shine.  The frets and fretboard are in fantastic condition and the board has been cleaned and oiled.  This is absolutely gorgeous and the case is super clean as well.

Set Up

This has been set up at our shop.  The head is a Huber frosted head and is set to 90.  The bridge is set with correct intonation.  The strings are new Hubers and this is a fantastic player.  This banjo has great volume and is a thrill to play.
