This is a 5 string Flathead Banjo that was made at some point by Robin Smith.  This banjo has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This is a banjo that was built at some point by Robin Smith.  I do not know when this was made but I’m assuming this was made quite some time ago.  This is a flathead Bluegrass Style Banjo and it is definitely professional quality.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a curly maple neck and resonator.  The fretboard is rosewood with a Flying Eagle inlay pattern.  There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator.  The hardware is nickel and includes a one piece flange and a 20 hole tone ring.  This banjo was built with 3 thumb screws at the pot.

This is a very good banjo that plays great and sounds fantastic.  This banjo also includes a Deering Hardshell Case.

Condition

This is in great shape and has been professionally cleaned at our shop.  The banjo has been disassembled and the hardware has been buffed and looks great.  The finish is clean and has been waxed to a shine as well.  The frets and fretboard are clean.  This only has a spike at the 7th fret but it looks like it may have once had one at the 9th fret. The banjo is definitely in good shape and the case is in overall good shape as well.  There is some marks on the outside of the case but it’s still in solid and good condition.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse.  The head is a new Huber Frosted Head which is set to 90.  The bridge is a Grover Bridge and the intonation is set.  This has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and this banjo also is a great player.  This is absolutely a great sounding and solid playing instrument with some good volume.  This is a great option for someone that wants quality at a great price.
