Randy Wood 5 string Banjo

This is an archtop banjo that was made about 20 years ago by Randy Wood. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a mahogany neck and resonator. The fretboard is rosewood with a Wreath inlay pattern. There is Antiquated Gold Hardware which sort of looks like copper and is a very attractive metal. The tuners have golden amber buttons and there is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator. This is a really good looking banjo.

The flange is a one piece flange and the tone ring is a 40 hole archtop ring and was made by First Quality. The armrest is a one piece amrest and this has a Presto Tailpiece. This is really a top of the line banjo made by a top of the line builder with top of the line parts. This also includes a padded gig bag.

Condition

This is absolutely in great shape. There is a scratch on the back of the resonator but that is almost all of the wear. The resonator still looks good with this scratch even with a couple other small nicks. The hardware looks great and very little has worn off. The neck and fretboard are in good shape and the frets are overall clean as well. There is some wear on the first several frets but that is not bad. The rest of the frets look nearly untouched. We also have professionally cleaned the banjo including waxing the wood and oiling the fretboard. This is a great looking banjo that has been well taken care of.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia. This has a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial. The bridge is a Sosebee bridge and this has correct intonation. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set nicely. The banjo is also adjustable. This is a superb banjo that looks great, sounds great and plays great. This would be the perfect banjo for the person that wants a nice Style 3 archtop at a great price.
