This is an American Made Recording King M5 which was built in part by Greg Rich. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

There were several banjos that were made in the USA by Recording King that are at a much higher level than the standard Recording King Banjo. This is remarkable because Recording King already operates at a high level of quality. Greg Rich was the overseer for these projects and was involved in the building. This is one of these banjos.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell. The neck and resonator are both curly maple and this has nickel hardware. The fretboard is rosewood and this has some nice custom inlay work for the position markers. The neck and resonator each have w/b/w binding on each side. This has a one piece armrest, a Presto style tailpiece and a full size 20 hole tone ring. This also has some high quality MDT D tuners which costs $300 alone!!! The banjo is all original and includes the original case.

This also is signed inside the resonator by Chris Warner, Charlie Cushman and Steve Dilling.

This is comparable to Gibson Banjos that cost $4000 or more and many would say this banjo is superior. This has a great deal of tone, this is a beautiful sounding banjo and also looks great and plays like butter.

Condition

This banjo was so clean when it got here we didn’t have to do much at all to it! This is clean!!! The hardware looks fantastic almost like it has been untouched. The resonator looks incredible also. The neck and fretboard are in great shape and this has almost no fretwear. This is absolutely gorgeous. In addition the hardshell case is super clean. This is a great package all the way around.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta. The head is a new Huber frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial. The bridge is a Grover Bridge and the banjo has correct intonation. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set nicely. This is also fully adjustable. This banjo is a top of the line American Made Banjo by Greg Rich with top quality parts and materials and is set up to play and sound incredible.
