This is a true work of art.  Greg Rich designed Rich and Taylor Walking Liberty 5 string Banjo.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

Wow what an incredible Banjo.

This is a fully worked custom art piece that was made by Greg Rich at Rich and Taylor not long after Greg left Gibson.  This is a tribute to America and features custom art all over the banjo.

This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a curly maple neck and resonator.  The fretboard is ebony and has amazing inlay work.  This has gold engraved hardware and everything is engraved.  The flange, tone ring and tension hoop are all fully engraved.  The neck and resonator each have w/b/w binding along with abalone binding on each side.  The resonator has carving around the side wall and a large “Walking Liberty” Lady carved into the back.  The inside of the resonator also has carving including a bald eagle amongst other things.

The headstock is unbelievable.  This is a giant bald eagle with abalone feathers inlaid into the headstock.  This also includes the R&T logo.  The headstock is truly amazing.

The fretboard has We The People inlaid along with Ben Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.  There also is an Eagle with a Liberty Bell and a Soldier inlaid into the fretboard.

The thumb screws have abalone buttons and are also gold.  This is absolutely the most detailed art banjo that has come through here and is truly a phenomenal piece.  This has a Tennessee 20 gold plated tone ring which is regarded as one of the best tone rings that has been made.  This banjo will impress literally anybody and will turn heads in every since of the word.

Condition

Overall this banjo is in phenomenal shape.  It was dropped at some point and there are a couple of spots on the bottom of the resonator that have been lightly damaged.  We may get those repaired but for now we are leaving them alone.

Other than that this is gorgeous and barely touched.  The frets look almost perfect.  The finish and gold all look incredible.  There are spikes at the 7th and 9th which were professionally installed.  This is definitely a beautiful banjo that has been well taken care of with a clean case.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse.  This has a clean Remo frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial.  The bridge is a Huber bridge and this has correct intonation.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set nicely.  This plays and sounds incredible.  This banjo is everything a serious banjo collector wants.  It turns heads with how it looks and sounds.  This is absolutely the most well worked banjo I’ve seen in the shop and originally this was a $20,000 banjo.  Check out Banjo Warehouse for all sorts of interesting Banjos for Sale.
