Sagmoen 5 string Openback Banjo

This is a really cool 5 string openback banjo made by Sagmoen. This has been fully inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This has a block rim made out of maple with nickel hardware. The neck is also maple with a rosewood fretboard. The banjo is all original and has some kind of brass tone ring. There is also black binding on the neck and black tuning keys. Finally this has a premium scoop at the end of the fretboard which does help with clawhammer style playing. And this has a dowel stick.

This is definitely a high quality openback and this has a superb tone for folk style clawhammer banjo. This also includes a premium Superior Hardshell Case.

Condition

One of the blocks on the side of the rim has come slightly loose but other than that the banjo is in excellent condition. We can get that repaired for a low price. The rim itself is in great shape and looks really clean. The hardware is also in good shape. The neck and resonator are in good shape as well and the frets are clean overall. There is a hint of fretwear on the first few frets but it is minor and only on the first few. The case is definitely in good shape with a few marks on the outside but it is a clean case inside and out.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse. This has a frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial. The bridge has no markings but I can say it has correct intonation. The action is set nicely and this feels great to play. I’m sure this banjo would cost over $2000 new so this is a great chance to get a premium clawhammer banjo with a scoop at a great price.
