This is a really cool 1960’s 5 string Banjo made by Aquarius.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This was made in the 1960’s and really has that Vintage Vibe.  This is the sort of thing that would have been a big deal Xmas present in the 1960’s for most kids that wanted a banjo!

This has an aluminum shell and flange with a gold plated tension hoop.  The hooks are also gold plated as is the tailpiece.  The armrest is a wooden armrest which is original and really classy.  The resonator and headstock overlay are Brazilian Rosewood and this has a maple neck.  The fretboard is rosewood with blocks.  All of the tuners are gold and original.

This is not a professional grade banjo but it definitely is a cool find.  This is in great shape and was a step up model in the 1960’s plus it was made in Japan.  This has a thick padded gig bag as well.

Condition

This came into the shop clean but we still professionally cleaned this at the Banjo Warehouse.  This was taken apart and all of the metal was cleaned and the wood waxed.  We cleaned and oiled the fretboard as well.  This was already in great shape but now it looks almost new!!!  This is really an attractive banjo that is clean.

The original case is in good shape but one of the hinges is broken.  That doesn’t effect anything when the case is closed.  The case is still absolutely functional and is a solid case.

Set Up

This has also been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.  This has the original head which is set to 90 on a drum dial.  The banjo has a Grover Bridge which is set with correct intonation and new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.  This plays great and really does have a nice tone as well.

For the price this is such a cool piece of 1960’s Japanese Banjo memorabilia.
