Vintage Gibson RB250 5 string Banjo w Hard Case

This is a 1970’s or possibly early 80’s Gibson RB250 which is all original except for a new neck.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

Description

This banjo is a Gibson Mastertone Banjo.  It is all original except for a new tone ring and new neck which is identical to what an original neck looked like.  The only reason I don’t know the year is the serial number is on the back of the headstock and this new neck has no serial number.

This has an original Gibson Shell with a mahogany neck and resonator.  The fretboard is rosewood with a leaves and bows inlay and there is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator.  The hardware is nickel and includes an original Gibson Two Piece Flange and a non original tone ring, original Gibson Clamshell Tailpiece and original Gibson armrest.  This also includes an archtop hardshell case.

Condition

This is good shape and has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse.  The most serious wear is the binding on the resonator is cracked heavily.  The binding on the neck is essentially perfect but the neck is also new.

The banjo has been disassembled and all of the hardware has been buffed with a high powered buffer and looks great.  The finish has been waxed and the finish is truly at a nice shine.  The fretboard is in great shape and the frets are in great shape with very light wear on the just the first few frets.  There is definitely no functional issues.  There is no spikes or 5th string capo but we can do that for you if you want.  The banjo is in fantastic shape other then the binding on the resonator.  The case is also in great shape inside and out.

Set Up

This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse.  The head is a new Remo frosted head and is set to 90.  The bridge is set with correct intonation.  The strings are new Huber .10’s and the banjo is a fantastic player.  This definitely is a great player with great tone and is in overall really good shape.
