Description

Many of the banjos that were made in the 1970’s in Japan were near exact copies of Gibson Banjos. In many cases the Japanese Banjo was the better banjo. This is an example of one of these quality Japanese Banjos, it is not going to tear down a Gibson but for $1300 this delivers solid tone and has some nice vintage mojo.

This has a rosewood neck and resonator and a rosewood fretboard. All of this rosewood is likely Brazilian Rosewood considering this was made in the 1970’s. The fretboard has a leaves and bows inlay and there is binding on the neck and resonator.

The hardware is chrome and includes a mastertone style flathead tone ring and a 2 piece flange. The banjo has all original parts and includes an original case.

Condition and Set up

This banjo is in fantastic shape. The hardware has some light pitting but it is minor. We have taken the banjo apart and cleaned all of the metal and the metal looks fantastic. The finish was in great shape on the way in with little wear. The frets and board are clean and there are no spikes, no 5th string capo and there never was either. This banjo is in fantastic shape.

This is set up with a Pre EPA Remo frosted head which is set to 90. The strings are new Huber strings. This banjo is a super cool vintage banjo that does have some nice vintage tone and is set up ready for you to rock.
