Vintage Ode Banjo Model 6505 Style C 5 string Banjo

This is an early 1980’s ODE Banjo that is in fantastic condition and is a classic banjo.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

ODE is the predecessor to OME Banjos and for some time these were called Baldwin ODE.  These banjos are made in the USA and are definitely professional quality.

This has a multiply maple shell with a mahogany neck and resonator.  The hardware is nickel.  This is all original except for one new thumbscrew.  This has a full size 20 hole toe ring and a one piece flange, both of which are original.  The fretboard is really dark but I believe it is rosewood and there is some really good looking inlay work on the fretboard.  The headstock also has inlay including the ODE logo.  This is absolutely gorgeous and includes a Superior Hardshell Case.

There exists a group of people that love ODE Banjos and it makes sense why this is.  These are definitely unique and professional and they have a wonderful sound that only comes from an ODE.

Condition

This was clean on the way in but we also have professionally cleaned this banjo.  The banjo was disassembled and all of the metal was buffed with a high powered buffer.  Now the hardware looks new!!  The wood was waxed and the fretboard was oiled which has caused even more shine.  This really didn’t show much wear when we got it so everything just looks incredible.  There is a bit of wear on the first few frets but it’s not serious and the rest of the frets look new.  The Superior Hardshell Case is also clean.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia as well.  The head is a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial.  The bridge is a Snuffy Smith bridge and the banjo is intonated.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set nicely.  This also is adjustable with the ODE adjustment system.  This banjo is set up to pro standards!
