Banjo Warehouse is a specialty banjo dealer in Yellow Springs, Ohio, serving players worldwide since 1980. Every banjo in our inventory — new, used, or vintage — is personally evaluated by Geoff Hohwald and set up by our banjo tech Tara before it ships. If you’ve ever received an instrument that needed work before it was playable, you know what that’s worth.

Geoff has spent more than 50 years buying, selling, playing, and studying banjos. He authored The Banjo Primer, collaborated with Gold Tone founder Wayne Rogers on the OB-12 Top Tension design, and has personal relationships with the makers and players who define this instrument. When you call Banjo Warehouse, you’re talking to someone who can tell you exactly how a 1932 Gibson flathead compares to a modern Huber — and why that matters for the music you want to play.
What We Carry
Our inventory spans the full range of serious five-string banjos. On the new side, we carry Gold Tone and Deering as authorized dealers — two of the most respected names in American-made banjos. We also stock Recording King for players looking for exceptional value at the entry and intermediate levels.
For players seeking professional-grade instruments, we regularly carry banjos from Huber, Stelling, Nechville, OME, ODE, and other respected builders. These are instruments that professional bluegrass and old-time players rely on night after night.
Our vintage and used inventory is where Geoff’s expertise runs deepest. We specialize in prewar Gibson Mastertone banjos — the flathead and archtop instruments from the 1920s and 1930s that remain the gold standard in bluegrass — along with postwar Gibsons, tenor conversions, and a rotating selection of collectible instruments from across the decades. Every used instrument is described honestly, including any wear, repairs, or non-original parts.
How We Work
We ship free within the United States. Every instrument is double-boxed and arrives ready to play — our customers regularly tell us their banjos were still in tune when they opened the case. If for any reason you’re not satisfied, we offer a 7-day return window on all purchases.
We also buy and trade. If you have a banjo you’re looking to move, call Geoff directly at 404-218-8580. He pays fair prices and makes the process simple.
