Stelling Banjos
Stelling banjos are known for their bright, powerful tone and exceptional build quality. Geoff Stelling built them by hand in Afton, Virginia from 1974 until the company closed at the end of 2022, roughly 7,000 instruments over nearly five decades. Well-known models include the Staghorn, Bellflower, Red Fox, Virginian, Golden Cross, and Sunflower, and Stellings have been played by Bill Emerson, Alan Munde, Don Reno, Eddie Adcock, Alison Brown, and Tony Trischka, among others.
Because Stelling no longer builds new instruments, every Stelling is now vintage or used. Banjo Warehouse buys and sells used Stellings, each professionally set up by our banjo tech Tara before it ships. Call Geoff at (404) 218-8580 to discuss what’s currently available, or if you have a Stelling to sell; we often have instruments that haven’t made it to the website yet.
