After 50+ years of working with stringed instruments, I still get excited when something genuinely different crosses my bench. The Gold Tone ResoMaple concert ukulele is one of those instruments – it combines the charm of a traditional ukulele with the raw power and distinctive voice of a resonator guitar.

I’ve personally set this one up in my shop, and I can tell you it’s loud, punchy, and sonically unique. If you’ve been looking for a ukulele that can hold its own in a jam session, cut through on stage without amplification, or just deliver a tone that turns heads, this is it.

What Makes a Resonator Ukulele Special?

Traditional ukuleles are sweet and intimate – perfect for what they do. But resonator ukuleles are a completely different animal. Instead of a standard wooden soundboard, the ResoMaple uses a biscuit cone resonator (similar to what you’d find on a dobro or resonator guitar) mounted under a metal coverplate with decorative f-holes.

When you strike a string, the vibrations transfer through the bridge to the resonator cone, which amplifies the sound mechanically. The result?
