Based on a custom design by noted luthier Andy Perkins of Andybanjo.com, Faversham, UK, the IT-250F is THE banjo for the Irish tenor banjoist that wants to be heard! Gold Tone’s loudest tenor banjo features a 40-hole brass arch-top tone ring and a brass resonator flange. The fourteen-inch resonator pushes your music forward and out, assuring that you’ll be heard even in the largest session. The slim, playable neck is bound in white celluloid and boasts beautiful, traditional hearts and flowers inlay. This is a banjo you’ll be proud to play in any setting. This is a left-handed model.
This is a floor model that was on display in our shop, but it plays great and comes with a full warranty.

ABOUT:
Geoff Hohwald has been playing banjo since the 1960’s. He became active in the thriving bluegrass community in Ohio as a teenager while studying at Ohio State University. He has played professionally as a guitarist and banjo player with several bluegrass bands ever since. Geoff moved to Atlanta after college and co-founded the Watch and Learn publishing company. They now publish a full line of musical instrument instruction books and digital modules. He also owned several music stores in Atlanta from the 1980s through the mid-2000s and is still an active participant in the musical instrument re-sale community in the southeast.
Banjo Warehouse is a family business resulting from 50 years of experience in music and 40 years of experience in musical instrument retail sales and education. Our focus is on the 5-string flathead banjo, but we also occasionally have a good selection of guitars and mandolins (and other folk instruments).

The IT-250R Irish Tenor Resonator Banjo features a short scale, 17-fret neck and uses heavier strings tuned in fifths (GDAE—an octave below the mandolin). This traditional Irish setup provides the authentic, plunky tone that works with the bodhran, pipes and fiddles found in Celtic music. A Whyte Laydie tone ring and maple resonator add power and volume, allowing for picking precision. The 1/2”-thick rim and neck are also made of maple for additional articulation and snap.
