The success of the Gold Tone CEB-4 Cello-Banjo got Gold Tone president Wayne Rogers thinking, “Hmmm…what about a FIVE-STRING version?” Thus, the CEB-5 was born! Endowing the legions of five-string banjoists with a new and compelling voice to add to their music, the mighty CEB-5’s fourteen-inch pot (the largest banjo pot in production today by any maker) with a custom Remo Renaissance head and custom-designed high-tension wound nylon strings on a custom bridge pushes out gut-rumbling lowdown banjo mojo. Tuned a full octave below any of the standard five-string banjo’s many tunings, the CEB-5 looks as great as it sounds. The Canadian maple neck is finished in rich sunburst and the tastefully-bound peghead and ebony fretboard as well as the heel cap are fully bound. Play the Big Five under an Old Time ensemble to add a bass feel, play Scruggs-style three-finger rolls for an added dimension to Bluegrass or Newgrass styles or play the CEB-5 clawhammer-style (HUGE fun). Includes hard shell case. This is a left-handed model.
This is an open-box model that was on display in our shop. It’s brand new and comes with a full warranty.

ABOUT:
Geoff Hohwald has been playing banjo since the 1960’s. He became active in the thriving bluegrass community in Ohio as a teenager while studying at Ohio State University. He has played professionally as a guitarist and banjo player with several bluegrass bands ever since. Geoff moved to Atlanta after college and co-founded the Watch and Learn publishing company. They now publish a full line of musical instrument instruction books and digital modules. He also owned several music stores in Atlanta from the 1980s through the mid-2000s and is still an active participant in the musical instrument re-sale community in the southeast.
Banjo Warehouse is a family business resulting from 50 years of experience in music and 40 years of experience in musical instrument retail sales and education. Our focus is on the 5-string flathead banjo, but we also occasionally have a good selection of guitars and mandolins (and other folk instruments).
