Gold Tone Mastertone™ OB-2+ Bowtie Banjo with JLS Tone Ring
The Legendary 1960s Bowtie Mastertone Reborn – With Premium JLS Tone Ring Upgrade
Was $2,499.99
$1,999.99
You Save $500
If you know the history of bluegrass banjo, you know the bowtie Mastertones from the early 1960s occupy a special place. These weren’t the pre-war Gibsons that everyone chases today—they were the professional-grade instruments that serious pickers actually bought new and gigged with for decades. The OB-2+ is Gold Tone’s tribute to that golden era, and with the upgraded JLS tone ring, it’s delivering tone that rivals instruments costing twice as much.
Marc Horowitz tells the story best: he bought his first bowtie Mastertone in 1963 as a high school junior, and even after decades of playing everything from pre-war Gibsons to modern customs, he went back and found a mint ’63 bowtie. After setting it up properly, he was blown away. Those early sixties bowties—built in Kalamazoo by craftsmen who’d been there since the thirties, with tone rings from the same foundry that cast the pre-war versions—have a magic to them that’s unmistakable.
The OB-2+ captures that magic with meticulous attention to the details that matter. The JLS 19-hole bell brass flathead tone ring is the heart of this banjo, delivering that punchy, articulate voice with singing sustain. The three-ply maple rim and one-piece cast flange provide the foundation, while the mahogany neck and 14-inch mahogany resonator add warmth and depth.
Perfect for: Professional bluegrass players, collectors seeking vintage 1960s tone, bowtie enthusiasts, and players who want JLS tone ring performance in a classic package.
Key Features: JLS 19-Hole Bell Brass Flathead Tone Ring, mahogany neck and 14″ resonator, golden sunburst finish, ebony fingerboard with iconic bowtie inlays, Gotoh planetary tuners, Dotson bridge, Presto-style tailpiece, dual coordinator rods, 26-1/4″ scale, 13 lbs., hardshell case included

Gold Tone ResoMaple Concert-Scale Curly Maple Resonator Ukulele
Stunning Figured Maple with Biscuit Cone Power
Was $549.99
$439.99
You Save $110
This isn’t your typical ukulele. The Gold Tone ResoMaple combines the charm of a traditional ukulele with the raw power and distinctive voice of a resonator guitar. The biscuit cone resonator delivers incredible volume and sustain with a crisp, metallic edge perfect for blues, folk, and Hawaiian styles. When you strike a string, vibrations transfer through the bridge to the resonator cone, which amplifies the sound mechanically – louder than any traditional uke.
The gorgeous figured curly maple body provides both visual beauty and acoustic clarity. Every ResoMaple has unique flame figuring that catches light beautifully. Maple emphasizes high-end clarity and midrange punch – combined with the resonator cone, you get a voice that’s bright without being harsh, with excellent definition on individual notes and chords. Concert scale (14″ scale length) is the perfect size – larger than soprano for more presence, but still portable at just 2 lbs.
Perfect for: Blues ukulele players wanting authentic vintage sound, folk and Americana musicians, Hawaiian and slack-key players, anyone playing in groups who needs more volume, recording artists wanting a unique ukulele voice, fingerstyle players who love sustain and clarity.
Key Features: All curly maple construction, biscuit cone resonator with brushed aluminum coverplate, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, 19 frets, bone nut (1-3/8″ width), Kluson-style chrome tuners, dual f-holes, natural satin finish, includes heavy-duty padded gig bag

$439.99
You Save $110
If you’ve ever wished your ukulele could cut through the mix like a full-sized resonator guitar, the Gold Tone ResoUke is the answer you’ve been waiting for. This unique instrument pairs a resonant brass body with a genuine biscuit cone resonator to deliver that unmistakable “talking” tone that resonator instruments are famous for. The 14″ concert scale makes it comfortable and familiar for any uke player, but the sound is a whole different animal—this little instrument projects with authority.
Gold Tone really thought through the design on this one. The coverplate features a removable palm rest, which means you can adjust string action, break angle, or swap out the Canadian hard rock maple bridge saddle without removing the entire coverplate or loosening your strings. The palm rest can even be shimmed to different heights for perfect right-hand comfort. The mahogany neck feels great in your hand, and the rosewood fingerboard with 19 nickel silver frets gives you plenty of range to explore. The brushed aluminum finish looks absolutely stunning—vintage and modern at the same time.
