If you play ukulele and you’ve ever wondered what your chord voicings would sound like with the projection and depth of a guitar body, the Gold Tone UG-10 is exactly the instrument you’ve been waiting for. Tuned GCEA — just like a standard ukulele — this guitar-ukulele hybrid lets you bring every lick, chord shape, and melody you already know into a whole new tonal world. The larger body gives you fuller low-end warmth and more volume than a traditional uke, while the familiar tuning means there’s zero relearning curve. I think every serious ukulele player should own one of these. It genuinely opens up new musical possibilities, especially for chord-melody style playing where you want notes to ring and sustain.
Gold Tone built the UG-10 with practicality in mind. The laminated mahogany body is stable through seasonal humidity and temperature swings — a real concern for any gigging or traveling musician. The spruce top gives you a bright, articulate response that cuts through in ensemble settings. A two-way adjustable truss rod means this neck can be dialed in precisely for your playing style, and the bolt-on neck design makes any future servicing straightforward. The ZeroGlide nut is a thoughtful touch at this price point — it functions like a zero fret, giving open strings the same clear, fretted tone that players often chase in more expensive instruments. The ebony bridge with bone saddle rounds out a spec sheet that punches well above the $479.99 price tag.
Each instrument receives a professional setup at Gold Tone’s factory in Titusville, Florida before it ships to you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use regular ukulele strings on the Gold Tone UG-10?
The UG-10 ships with steel strings and is designed and set up specifically for them — the scale length, nut slots, and saddle are all calibrated for the included .24w-.008 steel gauges. Standard nylon or fluorocarbon ukulele strings would produce much lower tension and would likely result in poor intonation and a buzzy, unsatisfying tone. Stick with light steel strings intended for guitar-ukuleles or guitaleles for best results.
Is the UG-10 good for someone who already plays guitar but wants to learn ukulele?
It’s a natural bridge between the two instruments. Guitarists will find the body and neck feel immediately familiar, and since it’s tuned GCEA — equivalent to the top four strings of a guitar with a capo at the fifth fret — the chord shapes translate easily. It’s a fun way to get into ukulele-style playing without feeling completely lost on a tiny soprano body.
