If you’ve been playing ukulele and wondering what it would feel like to have a uke that truly cuts through the room, the Gold Tone ResoUke/L — this is the left-handed version — is going to be a revelation. Built around a 14.5″ concert scale that feels immediately comfortable under the fingers, this instrument pairs a resonant brass body and top with a reverse-cone biscuit bridge setup to produce a tone that carries with warmth, clarity, and a little of that classic resonator bark that wooden-bodied ukes just can’t touch. Left-handed players have historically been an afterthought in the ukulele world, so it’s genuinely good to see Gold Tone offering this model in a proper left-handed configuration rather than asking players to jury-rig a standard instrument.
What sets the ResoUke apart from the crowd — beyond the obvious visual drama of that brass body — is the thoughtful engineering Gold Tone brought to the coverplate. The Gold Tone/Beard resonator coverplate features a removable palm rest, which means you can adjust string action, break angle, string spacing, or swap the bridge saddle without detaching strings or pulling the whole coverplate. The palm rest can also be shimmed to different heights, so right-hand comfort is genuinely customizable. Details like the bone nut, Canadian hard rock maple bridge saddle, and custom-gauged nylon strings round out a package that punches well above its price point. Rosewood fingerboard, 19 frets, dot inlays, cream ABS binding, and brushed aluminum and chrome hardware give the instrument a cohesive, professional look. Standard GCEA tuning means your chord vocabulary transfers over immediately. A heavy-duty gig bag is included.
Each instrument receives a professional setup at Gold Tone’s factory in Titusville, Florida before it ships to you.
Why Buy From Banjo Warehouse
Banjo Warehouse is an authorized Gold Tone dealer, which means every instrument we sell is covered by the full manufacturer warranty and backed by a dealer who actually knows these instruments inside and out. I’ve been in the fretted instrument business for over 45 years — I co-own Watch & Learn in Atlanta, wrote Banjo Primer (consistently rated the top beginner banjo method on the market), and co-designed the Gold Tone OB-Standard, so when I say the ResoUke is a well-engineered instrument, I’m not just reading off a spec sheet. We stock these because they genuinely deliver. Financing is available through PayPal Pay in 4, Afterpay, and 3, 6, 12, or 24-month plans with no late fees — so there’s no reason to wait on an instrument that’s calling your name.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use standard ukulele strings on the ResoUke/L?
The ResoUke ships with custom-gauged nylon strings optimized for its resonator setup and brass body. You can experiment with other nylon string sets in standard GCEA gauges, but I’d recommend sticking close to the stock gauges to preserve the break angle and tone Gold Tone dialed in at the factory. Steel or wound strings are not appropriate for this instrument.
Is this truly a left-handed instrument, or is it just a standard ResoUke restrung?
The ResoUke/L is a purpose-built left-handed model from Gold Tone — the neck, nut, and setup are all configured for left-handed playing. It is not a standard right-handed model with the strings flipped. If you’re a left-handed player who has struggled to find a proper left-handed resonator uke, this is the real deal.
Does the removable palm rest make a big difference for playability?
It really does, and it’s one of my favorite details on this instrument. Most resonator instruments require you to remove the entire coverplate — and often detach strings — just to make a minor bridge adjustment. The Gold Tone/Beard coverplate design lets you lift the palm rest independently, so tweaking action or replacing the saddle is a five-minute job rather than a full teardown. It also lets you shim the palm rest to a height that feels natural for your picking style, which is a subtle but genuinely useful ergonomic touch.
