This 2007 Gibson Granada Flying Eagle is a showpiece in exceptional condition. Gibson’s Granada has been the gold standard for bluegrass banjo since the 1930s, and this modern reissue captures everything that made the original legendary. This banjo was purchased from the original owner and includes the original Gibson paperwork. Serial number 07-12FE. Sold initially through Janet Davis Music in Bella Vista, Arkansas, in April 2009.
The craftsmanship on this instrument is outstanding. The peghead features the iconic Gibson script logo, a stunning mother-of-pearl flying eagle inlay, and ornate scrollwork. Only around 10% of Gibson Granadas ever made feature the Flying Eagle inlay, making this instrument even more special. The ebony fingerboard showcases elaborate pearl inlays running the full length of the neck, culminating in the distinctive Mastertone block at the 22nd fret. The curly maple neck displays beautiful figuring with a rich tobacco sunburst finish.
Gold-plated hardware throughout includes the flange, engraved Granada armrest, and engraved Presto tailpiece. The three hooks underneath the armrest are nickel, which is common for reissue Gibsons from this era. The flamed maple resonator features a gorgeous tobacco sunburst finish with cream binding. The flathead 20-hole tone ring delivers that punchy, powerful Granada tone that has defined bluegrass banjo for decades.
This banjo has been well cared for and is ready to play. A serious instrument for the serious picker. Comes with an upgraded Ameritage Gold Series Resonator Banjo Case.
