This 1982 Stelling Sunflower 5-string banjo features curly maple construction, nickel hardware, and a warm vintage tone. Professionally set up with minimal fret wear and a repaired headstock crack, it’s in very good condition and includes the original Stelling hardshell case.

According to his chronology, this 1982 Stelling Sunflower banjo is one of the last Geoff Stelling made that year. It’s a rare find in very good condition and delivers the rich, warm tone that only decades of aging can bring. Crafted from beautifully figured curly maple wood with durable nickel hardware, this vintage instrument combines classic Stelling craftsmanship with outstanding playability.
The neck and ebony fretboard are well-preserved, featuring frets with virtually no wear, ensuring smooth, comfortable playing. A minor headstock crack has been professionally repaired, making the neck even stronger than original. The resonator shows minimal button scratching, visible only under bright light.
Approaching its 45th year, this banjo offers the sought-after vintage sound that serious players and collectors love. It includes the original Stelling hard case, showing normal wear consistent with its age.

We set about creating a worthy modern evocation of this tremendous old banjo: the Gold Tone OB-2 Bowtie. Rare 2001 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard Banjo in excellent condition. Features premium quarter sawn Grade A curly maple neck and resonator with authentic Mastertone tone ring (dated 3-16-01). Minimal play wear with pristine frets and ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl inlays. All original hardware in fantastic condition. Includes original Gibson hard case.
Gibson discontinued banjo production over a decade ago, making this all-original example a valuable find for collectors and serious players seeking that legendary Gibson sound and craftsmanship.

The Calico is one of my favorite Deering banjos in this price range. It has an attractive blonde curly maple neck and resonator with nickel plated metal parts including a full-weight brass flathead tone ring.
The double-cut headstock, combined with the Hearts-and-Flowers inlay pattern, says it all. The OB-Standard respects the GOAT Bluegrass banjoist, Earl Scruggs, who played this banjo style for many years.
