This 1997 Stelling Sunflower Five-String Resonator Banjo is in excellent condition and sounds great. The serial number is 4640 (read “A Stelling Banjo Chronology” to see what Geoff Stelling and his team were up to in 1997 when this banjo was manufactured).
Condition: Â There are a few marks on the second fret from regular playing, but other than that, there is virtually no wear on the banjo. The finish looks great. The resonator has some minor scratches that do not go through the finish but are visible when you hold the resonator up to the light. The metal parts on this Sunflower shine and are in excellent condition. The original Stelling case that comes with this banjo has some wear but is structurally sound. (see last two photos). Â This banjo also has high-quality, professional replacement keys.
Bottom line: This is a classic banjo with the coveted Stelling sound, and it will only become rarer and more desirable in the coming years.
We generally carry a wide range of Stelling banjos, from the Staghorn and Golden Cross models to the Red Fox, Sunflower, Whitestar, and others.
Stelling banjos are known for their exquisite quality and bright sound. Stelling banjos have been played by many top players, including Alan Munde, Don Reno, Eddie Adcock, Alison Brown, and Tony Trischka.
Remember that we nearly always have Stelling banjos in stock that have yet to be added to our website listings.
Every Banjo we sell receives a professional setup in our shop. This Sunflower has a Remo frosted head set to 90. It has the correct intonation, and the banjo is a phenomenal player. This Stelling is also fully adjustable with a truss rod and dual coordinator rods. Â
