A banjo tuned like a guitar
A 6-string banjo, also called a banjitar or guitjo, sets a guitar-style neck on a banjo body and is tuned EADGBE like a guitar. Every chord shape you already know works on day one, with the bright, punchy tone of a banjo. If you play guitar, it is the fastest way to get a banjo sound.
Pickup, resonator or open back
Several models have a built-in pickup for an amp or PA, including the Gold Tone ES-Banjitar, the BT-1000 and the CC-Banjitar with Pickup. Resonator models like the Deering Goodtime Six-R are louder and brighter, and open backs are lighter and mellower. The Gold Tone GT-500, GT-750, BT-1000, ES-Banjitar and CC-Banjitar also come left-handed.
