Clawhammer is the older way of playing, an Appalachian style that predates the three finger roll, and this is where it starts. The book works from reading tab and G tuning through the basic strum, hammer-ons and pull-offs.
The tunes are the ones you will actually be asked for at a jam: Cripple Creek, Cumberland Gap, Old Joe Clark and others.
Audio jam tracks and video instruction come with the book, so you can hear a tune played before you try to read it.
