The Victorian is the most ornate instrument in Gold Tone’s Grandmaster line, and the ornament sits on top of a genuinely unusual build. The back is a single solid piece of 4A maple. Most F-style backs are book-matched from two pieces because a board wide enough to make one is scarce and expensive; a one-piece back is uncommon at any price, and it gives the back a focused, even response along with the look.
The top is solid old Italian spruce, and the F-holes are bound, a custom-shop appointment you rarely see on a production mandolin. Neck, back and sides are 4A North American maple, the fingerboard and bridge are ebony, and the fingerboard carries mother of pearl dot markers. The finish is nitrocellulose lacquer: a black top over cherry burst back and sides, edged in ivoroid binding.
The Victorian name comes from the details. The headstock carries a brass and mother of pearl inlay, the tailpiece is custom engraved brass, and the Gotoh tuners wear custom inlaid buttons with Victorian-inspired detailing. A hard case is included.
This is a statement instrument, and it is priced like one. If you are choosing between it and the Elite, the question is whether the one-piece back, the bound F-holes and the appointments are worth the difference to you. Call us and we will talk it through honestly.

The Elite puts its money into the woods and the build with plainer appointments. The Victorian adds the one-piece back, bound F-holes and the ornate details. The Super Cremona steps up to 5A maple and a hand-scraped top under a shellac and varnish finish.
