Why the Artisan Goodtime Two 17-Fret Tenor?
It is the Artisan Goodtime Two built as a tenor. The resonator gives it a bright, clear voice that projects, louder than an openback tenor. The 17 fret neck and 21 inch scale make it the more compact of the two Artisan tenors.
The Artisan dress is the same as the 5-string: dark red mahogany stain with white detailing, a Midnight Maple fingerboard with vintage Artisan style inlays, and planetary tuners for smooth, fine tuning.
The Pot
3-ply violin grade maple rim, 11 inches across, with an 11 inch frosted high crown head. Beveled steel tension hoop with 16 flat J-hooks and 9/32 inch nuts. Two piece Goodtime flange, Goodtime armrest, 5/8 inch Goodtime Smile bridge and Deering’s patented Goodtime tailpiece. Nickel plated hardware and a hand finished satin polyurethane finish.
In short: the Artisan Goodtime Two 17-Fret Tenor is an American-made resonator tenor banjo with a 21 inch scale, at about 5.5 lbs.
The Neck
Rock maple neck with dark red mahogany stain and a satin finish. Midnight Maple fingerboard with vintage Artisan style inlays. 17 pressed in nickel silver frets. Lexan polycarbonate nut at 1 1/8 inch width. Planetary tuners. 21 inch scale length.
