Why the Artisan Goodtime Six-R?

The Artisan Goodtime Six-R is the 6-string resonator banjo in Deering’s Artisan Goodtime line. Deering designed it for sound projection, with a resonator back. The resonator closes off the back of the rim and gives the sound a flat surface to bounce off, out toward the audience.

It is built for guitarists: studio players, theater musicians, or anyone who wants to play their 6-string licks with a banjo’s clarity and brightness. If you play guitar, you can pick it up and play right away.

The Pot

3-ply violin grade maple rim, 11 inches across, with an 11 inch frosted high crown head. Beveled steel tension hoop with 16 flat J-hooks and 9/32 inch hex nuts. Goodtime armrest, 5/8 inch Goodtime Smile bridge and Deering’s patented Goodtime tailpiece. Nickel plated hardware and a hand rubbed polyurethane finish with carnauba wax.

The Neck

Rock maple neck with a comfortable D shape and a satin finish. Pau Ferro fingerboard with a 15 inch radius and pearloid inlays. 22 pressed in nickel silver frets. Dual action truss rod. Lexan polycarbonate nut at 1 11/16 inch width, the feel of a guitar neck. Six sealed geared tuners, three per side. 26 1/4 inch scale length.

3-ply poplar, poplar and maple resonator in a dark red mahogany stain, with a satin finish and straight sidewalls, 13 7/8 inches across. Overall length 38 inches, about 5.5 lbs.
