Why the Zombie Killer III?
Underneath the costume it is a Goodtime: a 3-ply violin grade maple rim, a comfortable rock maple neck and Deering’s light, easy playing build, at about 6 lbs. Deering made it for clawhammer and bluegrass players alike.
On top of that, Deering gave it rust finished hardware, a matte black head, enhanced zombie inlays on the fingerboard and a blood drip Goodtime logo on the peghead. It is a limited edition, available for a short time.
The Pot
3-ply violin grade maple rim, 11 inches across, with an 11 inch matte black high crown head. Rust coated beveled steel tension hoop with 16 flat J-hooks and 9/32 inch nuts. Rust finished flange, armrest and hardware, a 5/8 inch Goodtime Smile bridge and Deering’s patented Goodtime tailpiece. Satin finish.
In short: the Zombie Killer III is a Goodtime resonator banjo in full horror dress, about 6 lbs, in a limited run.
The Neck
Rock maple neck with a D shape, blood splatter stain and a satin finish. Zombie themed fingerboard inlays. 22 pressed in nickel silver frets. Lexan polycarbonate nut at 1 1/4 inch width. Sealed geared tuners and a geared 5th string tuner. 26 1/4 inch scale length.
The Resonator
3-ply poplar, poplar and maple resonator in a blood splatter stain with a satin finish and straight sidewalls, 13 7/8 inches across. Overall length 38 inches, about 6 lbs.
