Why the Goodtime Six-R?
The Six-R is the resonator version of Deering’s Goodtime Six, made for the stage. The resonator closes off the back of the rim and gives the sound a flat surface to bounce off, out toward the audience. Deering says the result is a fuller, clearer and more vibrant tone than the openback model.
It is built to complement the guitar, not replace it. If you play guitar, you can pick it up and play right away.
The Pot
3-ply violin grade maple rim, 11 inches across, with an 11 inch frosted high crown head. Beveled steel tension hoop with 16 flat J-hooks and 9/32 inch hex nuts. Goodtime armrest, 5/8 inch Goodtime Smile bridge and Deering’s patented Goodtime tailpiece. Nickel plated hardware and a hand rubbed polyurethane finish with carnauba wax.
In short: the Goodtime Six-R puts American-made banjo tone in a guitarist’s hands, with a resonator for volume, at about 5.5 lbs.
The Neck
Blonde rock maple neck with a comfortable D shape and a satin finish. Pau Ferro fingerboard with a 15 inch radius and classic block style pearloid inlays. 22 pressed in nickel silver frets. Dual action truss rod. Lexan polycarbonate nut at 1 11/16 inch width, the feel of a guitar neck. Six sealed geared tuners. 26 1/4 inch scale length.
The Resonator
3-ply poplar, poplar and maple resonator, unstained, with a satin finish and straight sidewalls, 13 7/8 inches across. Overall length 38 inches, about 5.5 lbs.

What is the difference between the Goodtime Six and the Goodtime Six-R?
The Six-R adds a maple resonator for more volume and projection, and a Pau Ferro fingerboard. The Goodtime Six is the lighter openback version, and we stock that too.
How is the Goodtime Six-R tuned?
Like a guitar: E A D G B E. Your guitar chord shapes work as they are.
Does this Six-R have a pickup?
No. This one is the acoustic model without a pickup.
