Why the Rustic Wreath?
The Rustic Wreath takes its design from its older siblings in the Golden Series: the inlay pattern from the Golden Wreath, the traditional prewar peghead shape and the iconic flange hole pattern. The neck has the same tapered profile as the other Golden Series banjos, and the resonator is the same deep Golden Series design, which lets the banjo produce more bass.
What changes is the dress. Instead of high gloss and figured wood, the Rustic Wreath wears a dark walnut stain under a satin finish with single white binding on the resonator. Deering calls it a sleek take on an iconic looking instrument.
The Pot
3-ply violin grade maple rim, 11 inches across, with the Deering -06- 20 hole bell bronze tone ring. 11 inch frosted medium crown head. Notched brass tension hoop with 24 round J-hooks and 1/4 inch hex nuts. Traditional style one piece zinc flange, Deering armrest, 5/8 inch Deering Smile bridge and Deering True Tone tailpiece. Nickel plated hardware.
In short: the Rustic Wreath is a prewar-style bell bronze bluegrass banjo, made in California, with Golden Series design at a lower price.
The Neck
Quartersawn maple neck with a traditional U shape, dark walnut stain and a satin finish. A grade ebony fingerboard with the traditional prewar Golden Wreath inlay pattern in pearloid, repeated on the traditional shape peghead. 22 pressed in nickel silver frets. Ebony nut at 1 3/16 inch width. Deering planetary tuners and a Deering Gotoh geared 5th string tuner. 26 1/4 inch scale length.
The Resonator
Deep Golden Series resonator in 3-ply poplar, poplar and maple, dark walnut stain, satin finish, straight sidewalls and single white binding, 13 7/8 inches across. Overall length 38 inches.

How is the Rustic Wreath related to the Golden Wreath?
It shares the Golden Wreath’s inlay pattern, the prewar peghead shape, the flange hole pattern, the neck profile and the deep Golden Series resonator. The Rustic Wreath uses a satin, dark walnut stained finish in place of the Golden Wreath’s fancier appointments.
Does the Rustic Wreath have a narrow neck?
Its nut is 1 3/16 inches wide, slightly narrower than the 1 1/4 inches on most Deering 5-strings, with a traditional U shape neck profile.
Is the Deering Rustic Wreath made in the USA?
Yes. Deering handcrafts the Rustic Wreath in Spring Valley, California.
