A note on the photographs: these are Deering’s photos of the right-handed Limited Edition Bronze Americana. The banjo you receive is the left-handed version, a mirror image with the 5th string tuner on the other side of the neck.
Why the Americana Bronze?
The Americana is the Deering Goodtime built on a 12 inch rim instead of the usual 11 inch, with a 12 inch Renaissance head. Deering says the larger rim gives a stronger bass response and a much warmer tone, which suits old time and clawhammer playing and backing up a singer.
The Limited Edition adds Gold Rubbed Bronze hardware, which Deering describes as extremely durable, low maintenance and 100% hypoallergenic, plus artisan style hardwood inlays on a blonde maple fingerboard.
The Pot
3-ply violin grade maple rim, 12 inches across, with a 12 inch Renaissance medium crown head. Beveled steel tension hoop with 16 flat J-hooks and 9/32 inch nuts. Goodtime armrest, 5/8 inch Goodtime Smile bridge and Deering’s patented Goodtime tailpiece. All hardware is in Gold Rubbed Bronze powder finish. Hand rubbed polyurethane finish with carnauba wax.
In short: a brand new, left-handed, American-made 12 inch openback banjo in Deering’s limited Gold Rubbed Bronze finish, at about 4.5 lbs.
The Neck
Rock maple neck in a natural maple stain with a satin finish and a comfortable D shape. Blonde maple fingerboard with hardwood artisan style inlays and 22 pressed in nickel silver frets. Matching motif inlay on the peghead with a “Goodtime LTD” banner. Lexan polycarbonate nut at 1 1/4 inch width. Sealed geared tuners and a Goodtime geared 5th string tuner. 26 1/4 inch scale length. Overall length 37 1/2 inches, about 4.5 lbs.

Is this banjo left-handed?
Yes. It is built left-handed, with the 5th string tuner on the opposite side of the neck from a right-handed Goodtime. The photos are Deering’s and show the right-handed version.
Does it have a tone ring?
No. Like every Goodtime Americana it has no tone ring; its warmth comes from the 12 inch maple rim and Renaissance head.
Is it made in the USA?
Yes. Deering makes the Goodtime line in Spring Valley, California.
