This is a super unique banjo: a mid-2000s copy of a prewar Gibson style 1 conversion, built by Tennessee-based master luthier Clancy Mullins, who is now retired. It has a curly maple neck and resonator, a window pane copy tailpiece and an arch top tone ring. It comes with a hardshell case.
In the video, Geoff Hohwald introduces it as a Clancy Mullins archtop and plays it so you can hear it.
A Clancy Mullins copy of a prewar Gibson style 1 conversion
Clancy Mullins, a Tennessee-based master luthier who is now retired, built this banjo in the mid-2000s as a copy of a prewar Gibson style 1 conversion. It is a Mullins banjo, not a Gibson: the peghead carries the Mullins name, as you can see in the photos.
How this Clancy Mullins banjo is built
It has a curly maple neck, a curly maple resonator, an arch top tone ring and a window pane copy tailpiece.
The photographs also show the Mullins name inlaid in the peghead, the fingerboard inlays, the flange, the armrest, and a single coordinator rod inside the rim.
Condition
This Clancy Mullins banjo is in very good condition for its age and has some honest wear on the resonator. The photographs show the resonator back so you can see it.
