This is the left-handed Gold Tone SM-Weissenborn+, and Gold Tone has studied Herman Weissenborn’s pre-war Hawaiian steel guitars more closely than anyone currently building. The hollow-neck design is the whole point: the neck is part of the resonating chamber, which is why a Weissenborn sounds unlike any square-neck resonator or lap steel.
The GT is the most affordable way into a real Weissenborn: satin-finish all-mahogany construction, inlaid flush maple frets and open-geared Grover Stay-Tite tuners. It ships with a padded gig bag.
Important — tuning: because of the original-style construction, use only the correct tunings and string gauges. The supplied strings (.014 .018 .026w .034w .044w .056w) suit G (DGDGBD), D (DADF#AD) and similar. This instrument will not tolerate the tension of E tuning (EBEG#BE) or Dobro G (GBDGBD) — those risk bridge, bracing and neck damage.

No. Open E and Dobro G put more tension on a hollow-neck Weissenborn than the design tolerates. Stick to open G (DGDGBD) or open D (DADF#AD) with the supplied gauges.
