The OB-Standard Deluxe is a Banjo Warehouse exclusive. It has all the specs of the Gold Tone OB-Standard, the double-cut peghead, the Hearts and Flowers inlay, the maple neck and resonator and the 20-hole bell brass flathead tone ring, with gold plated hardware in place of nickel. It is our take on a modern, more affordable banjo in the style of the gold Gibson Earl Scruggs models.
This banjo is new, and it ships in its case. It is covered by Gold Tone’s lifetime limited warranty to the original owner.
This instrument receives a complete professional setup by our banjo tech Tara at Banjo Warehouse in Yellow Springs, Ohio before it ships.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the OB-Standard Deluxe different from the Gold Tone OB-Standard?
The hardware. The OB-Standard Deluxe has all the specs of the Gold Tone OB-Standard with gold plated hardware in place of nickel: the tuners, armrest, tailpiece, tension hoop, hooks and nuts, flange and coordinator rods are all gold. It is a Banjo Warehouse exclusive. If the nickel production spec is what you are after, we carry the standard OB-Standard too.
Does gold plating change the sound of a banjo?
Geoff thinks so. In his comparison video he says that gold plating does affect the sound, and he hears it as a little brighter. The best way to judge is to listen to the demo and the side by side comparison yourself.
How does it compare with a Gibson Earl Scruggs Golden Deluxe?
Geoff played this banjo back to back with our 1992 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard Golden Deluxe so you can hear both. The Gibson is a used banjo from the Greg Rich era, made in the USA, with curly maple, gold engraved hardware and a 20-hole Kulesh tone ring. The OB-Standard Deluxe is a new banjo in the same style, with plain gold plated hardware.
